The Montessori method doesn’t stop at the classroom — you can bring it home! At Character Montessori Preschool, we encourage parents to reinforce learning through fun, hands-on activities. Here are 5 easy Montessori activities to try at home with your toddler:
1. Sorting & Matching
Use colored blocks, buttons, or even socks. Let your child sort by color, size, or shape.
2. Pouring & Scooping
Fill two cups with water or grains. Encourage your toddler to pour carefully from one to the other — great for motor skills!
3. Practical Life Skills
Let your child help with safe tasks: wiping the table, watering plants, or putting away toys.
4. Sensory Play
Rice trays, sandboxes, or water tubs allow children to explore textures and develop curiosity.
5. Reading & Storytelling
Set aside quiet time daily to read together. Ask questions like, “What do you think happens next?”
Tip: Keep activities child-sized — small cups, baskets, and tools empower independence.
